Project Description

Heart Brothers Foundation

Sometimes clients find you because of relationships with other clients. That was the case when long-time client Boston Residential Group introduced us to the nonprofit Heart Brothers Foundation. Created by two men who met while each was waiting for a lifesaving heart transplant, the foundation provides financial and moral support to families like theirs who wait months while their loved one waits for a heart, undergoes a transplant and battles back to resume their life.

For the Heart Brothers Foundation (HBF) to be successful, people need to know about the work they’re doing and their own success stories. Ellis Strategies came on board to publicize the new Heart Brothers House, a luxury apartment in the heart of Boston where families of heart transplant patients can stay for $30 per night. Even before the official grand opening, the apartment was booked for a year. Ellis Strategies connected with two local TV stations to produce features on HBF and the Heart Brothers House. Other media coverage followed.

When HBF launched their webinar series, Ellis Strategies covered the events and wrote up news articles for their website and social media. For the grand opening of the Heart Brothers House, Ellis Strategies connected with the Office of the Mayor of Boston and secured the city’s top housing official to speak.

Ellis Strategies has continued helping HBF generate awareness and publicity, which, in return, has helped the founders boost their fundraising. Because of the success of the first Heart Brothers House at Church Park Apartments, a second unit has opened to provide heart transplant families a comfortable, inexpensive place to call home.
